Chicken Sandwiches and Logistics

There is a war going on out there between Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Chick-Fil-A, The Chicken Sandwich Wars of 2019. It started when Popeyes introduced a new chicken sandwich that gained in popularity due to Chick-Fil-A tweeting that their chicken sandwich was “the original”. Afterwards chaos ensued and Popeyes is now currently out of their new product across the nation. Piece of advice for those waiting to try the new sandwich, you are just going to have to wait, it’s not as simple as placing a phone call and resupplying the next day. This is logistics.

If the individual restaurants run out, that means the main suppliers are out. All of the ingredients in the sandwich (flour, chicken, cucumbers, etc.) need to be delivered to the suppliers, who then make the items (buns, pickles, etc.) and get them ready to be shipped out. Trucks come, pick up the supplies and run them to the individual restaurants to be cooked and sold. So, not a simple and quick process.

If you want to try the new sandwich, be patient with all of the companies needed to deliver them.
