Study Shows Trucking Companies using Safety Technology Improve Safety Outcomes

There is a new study out there from the National Surface Transportation Safety Center for Excellence (NSTSCE) stating that trucking companies who prioritize safety and utilize safety technologies will have an improved performance outcome. After studying a specific set of carriers, this study helped some go from being labeled as “high risk” carriers to improving their safety outcomes significantly.

Some practices that focused on safety include:

  • Modifying driver schedules to reduce fatigue.
  • Having a zero-tolerance policy for HOS violations.
  • Installing blind-spot detectors.
  • Installing stability control systems.
