Trucking Industry is Against Insurance Hike

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and close to 60 organizations have teamed up to fight against the possible hike in minimum insurance for carriers. A letter has been sent to the House of Transportation and Infrastructure Committee discouraging the price hike. Last year, the bill made it through the House but didn’t get any further than the Senate and this group from the trucking industry is trying to discourage it from happening again. The increase would take the $750,000 to $2 million and would put smaller trucking companies out of business, prices for everything would increase, and a lot of jobs would be lost.
