Lifetime Ban on Truckers Convicted of Human Trafficking

A final ruling from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared a permanent ban on any driver of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) convicted of human trafficking. This new ruling came from President Trump signing the “No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act,” which prohibits people from operating a CMV for life if they use their CMV to commit a felony involving human trafficking.

With its unique position, the trucking industry has become a valuable tool in identifying the signs of trafficking and deterring it, unfortunately there are still people out there who use their CMV for human trafficking. This is one step toward fighting these atrocious crimes.
