Transportation Company Starts Up its Own Trucking Academy

In Cambridge, Ont., a transportation company has taken the truck driver shortage problem into its own hands. Challenger Motor Freight has developed the Challenger Transportation Training Academy and classes start July 15. This school will have two courses that will meet the requirements under the mandatory entry-level training (MELT) criteria. There is a five-week tractor trailer program and a six-week A/Z license course.

In an industry with a high turnover rate, Challenger is hoping to avoid this problem with the graduates coming from its own academy.
