The Cullum Owings Large Truck Safe Operating Speed Act of 2019, is the newest legislation introduced that would set a speed limit on trucks. New commercial trucks that have a gross weight of 26,001 pounds or higher will be equipped with devices preventing it from going faster then 65 mph. It would also cover trucks with speed-limiting technology already installed, but not force trucks to install it after the fact.
With this new bill, they are hoping to reduce accidents on highways.
