With the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Hours of Service, finding parking spaces when you need them can be tricky. Sleeping in empty lots or on the side of the road is dangerous, especially for women. As the hours of service dictate, truckers can cut their day short by finding the first available spot or they can go over their available time and go searching.
From a survey conducted by Women in Trucking, women rated their safety at a 4.4 on a scale of one to 10. With the industry investing further and further into technology, there are now apps out there where truckers can reserve parking spots ahead of time. With a safe spot picked out, work can be scheduled proactively.
