Colorado Authorities Conducting Truck Safety Checks at Wolf Creek Pass

Colorado has its fair share of dangerous mountain roads and truckers are being warned to use extreme caution when taking the Wolf Creek Pass on US Highway 160. The Colorado Department of Transportation and Colorado State Patrol are teaming up to make sure truckers are safely supplied and educated to go through this area safely. Together, they are going to be conducting safety checks on commercial motor vehicles at the summit of the Pass. They will be interviewing drivers, letting them know how to safely handle the curves, and handling the slower speeds. They will also have printed materials available.

For truckers, the Wolf Creek Pass has a speed of 25 MPH or lower, a downhill grade of 7% on the west side, an 8-mile span from the summit to the west base, a hairpin curve just over 6 miles down, 2 runaway truck ramps, and extra-wide shoulders. It’s important to stay educated on your routes. Click the link below for more information about this.
