The advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage report put out by the American Trucking Associations rose 0.1% in January. With the rise of 0.5% in December, this 0.6% total over two months is a good sign. Yet, even with these short gains, it is still down 1.8% since July 2019. The tonnage index is a survey for ATA members which was started in 1970.
