After a 6.2% jump in July, the American Trucking Association’s advanced seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index fell 3.2% in August. Yet, when compared to August 2018, the SA index increased 4.1%. Since the 1970s, the ATA has been calculating the tonnage index based on surveys from its members.
