In Helena this last weekend, Motor Carriers of Montana put on their annual truck driving championships. Drivers from all over Montana attended this competition to demonstrate their driving skills using a variety of sizes in commercial vehicles. Some of the skills demonstrated included; tight 90-degree turns, turning around barrels, and precise parking.
Along with driving skills, safety was also a major factor during the weekend’s events. Simulations were set up for the public so the they can see what a trucker can see in their cab when it came to blind spots. Drivers were also asked to do inspections and take a written test. The winners will move on to the National Trucking Driving Championships later this year.
