Michigan Implements Weight Restrictions on Roads

Michigan’s annual spring weight restrictions have gone into effect. Areas with restrictions include M-20 from the interchange with US-31 in Oceana County, then east on M-20 to US-131, then north on US-131 to M-20 in Mecosta County, then east on M-20 to US-10 in Midland County, then east on US-10 to M-25 in Bay City, including the entire Thumb region. All state trunklines in these areas, carrying M, I, or US designations, will have weight restrictions fully enforced. As roads thaw in the spring melting snow and ice soak into the ground which softens the roadbed trapping moisture underneath. This causes weaker roads and makes them more susceptible to damage over time. Click the link below to learn more about this.
