Over 5,000 Truckers Were put Out of Service During Brake Safety Week

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance held its annual Brake Safety Week back in August and 12% of the 43,565 trucks inspected got grounded for bad brakes. The 5,156 commercial vehicles that failed during the week-long brake inspection period were from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. In the U.S., 13% failed, Mexico had 6% fail, and 14% of the trucks inspected in Canada failed. This voluntary inspection was done by 45 U.S. jurisdictions, 7 Canadian jurisdictions, and Mexico’s National Guard. Next year Brake Safety Week will be held Aug. 22-28, 2021.
