FMCSA Allows Carriers to Install Pulsating Brake Light on Tanker Trailers

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has approved a request made by National Tank Truck Carrier’s Inc. to install a pulsating brake light on the back of tanker trailers. This limited 5-year exemption allows those operating tanker trailers to put a red or amber pulsating brake light in the upper center spot (or upper dual outboard spot) of the trailer. This is an addition to the already regulated and necessary brake lights. This new regulation is to further improve safety for the driver and those sharing the road.

This exemption starts October 8, 2020, and ends October 8, 2025. Click the link below to read the document in the Federal Register.
