Parking a Big Rig in New York City Might Soon Lead to a Hefty Fine

Bill #S2761 is awaiting consideration on the Senate floor which could lead to hefty fines for trucks parking in New York City. Currently, there is a three hour limit on truck parking and parking at night on residential streets is not allowed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Also, right now there is no fine for illegally parking on city streets, just a towing fee. With this new bill, trucks illegally parked on the streets or left unattended overnight would be fined $1,000. One Assemblymember stated that this fine would help encourage legal parking on the streets and maintain the quality of life in the surrounding neighborhoods.
