Arizona Could be Seeing Higher Fuel Tax Rates Soon

The Arizona statehouse is continuing to work on raising the tax on fuel. The House Transportation Committee voted to move bill HB2899 along in the system that would raise almost $1.6 billion a year for roads. Fuel tax rates haven’t been changed since the early 90s and this bill would increase tax rates over the course of three years. After all of the increases, the gas rate would be 36 cents and the diesel rate would be 44 cents. There would also be a larger fee implemented on alternatively fueled vehicles.
