Heavy Truck Tax to be Renewed in Portland

Oregon’s trucking industry has objected to renewing a tax on heavy-duty trucks, but the city council of Portland is going through with it. The original tax started in 2016 with a 2.8% surcharge to the weight-mile tax for drivers of heavy-duty vehicles and will now, if voted on, be at a 3% surcharge. Taxes will be collected for Portland, on the miles truckers drive throughout Oregon. Beginning in 2021, the taxes collected will go towards city improvement projects including paving streets, fixing signals, etc. Click the link below to read more about this tax.
