Majority of Drivers are Not Registering to the Clearinghouse

Since the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse went live at the beginning of January, over 90% of drivers looking for a job have not signed up. Of those who have signed up, 3,000 of them have failed drug and alcohol tests. Drivers are not required to register for the Clearinghouse, but companies can’t hire them until they register. The main purpose of the Clearinghouse is to make sure our roads are safe from impaired drivers, and it’s important to those who have not registered to do so to save themselves (along with the companies) time and money.
