Wisconsin’s Frozen Road Law Covers Most of the State.

The longer it stays cold, the deeper the freeze in Wisconsin roads, and the harder and more solid the road, the more weight it can handle. During the winter months, Zones of Wisconsin roads are allowed heavier loads from commercial vehicles. Currently, the Frozen Road Declaration has now gone into effect for all roads except those in Zone 5. This law makes it easier for cities and towns to continue getting sand and salt for icy roads.
