Gig Law Halted for Truckers

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez has put a halt on California’s AB5 law, preventing it from affecting truckers. This new gig law would have adversely affected 70,000 independent truckers within the state. The restraining order the judge granted was brought about by the California Trucking Association and is claiming the labor law violates federal law. Besides truckers, this law also affects freelance photographers, Uber, Postmates, freelance writers, and any other “gig” worker business.
