FMCSA is Upping Random Drug Testing to 50% Starting with the New Year

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has posted a notice informing drivers of commercial vehicles that they will be increasing the random drug testing rate to 50%. Starting January 1, 2020, the percentage rate will double to 50% from 25%. Based on the results of the positive rate of 1% for controlled substances from a 2018 survey of Drug and Alcohol testing, the FMCSA must increase the number of random drug tests they perform.
