Trucking Industry Left Out of California’s AB 5

AB 5, the ‘Dynamex’ worker classification bill, has been moved forward by the California Senate. Before the bill went through, its author added one last exemption for newspaper delivery workers but there were no exemptions for the trucking industry. Other exemptions included lawyers, doctors, and hairstylists but no trucking companies or owner operators. Any business that relies on independent contractors like Uber, Lyft, and trucking companies might have a tough time in the future.
