Truckers Want to Split Up Their 30-Minute Breaks

With the FMCSA’s proposed changes to the current hours of service rules comes new suggestions from truck drivers. During the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration set up a public listening session where truckers could voice their concerns about the HOS changes. Drivers are saying that it would be better if the 30-minute break could be broken up into three 10-minute breaks or two 15-minute breaks. This would encourage them to move more throughout the day instead of sitting for longer periods of time while driving.

People are allowed to comment on these changes until October 7, which the FMCSA will use to develop the final HOS rules. Comment here.
