Highschoolers Asked to Solve a Math Problem about Electric Trucks

760 teams made up of almost 3,500 students will be working to figure out a math problem involving the amount of electric trucks out on the roads in the near future. The MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge is a program put out by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and is a math career path motivator. Together, these teams will be asked to use research, data, and brainstorming to create a model predicting the amount of electric trucks out on the road within the next 5, 10, and 20 years. Judging will be done by 150 math professionals, and the winners will be announced on April 27 in New York City. Quite a few teams will receive scholarship prizes with the main winning team getting a $20,000 scholarship. Click the link below to learn more about this math adventure.
