New Study put in Place to Help ‘Freight Alley’ Near Chattanooga

Put together by the Tennessee Department of Transportation and Thrive Regional Partnership, there is going to be a new study which should help the flow of traffic in Chattanooga’s ‘Freight Alley’. Over the next year, the counties in Northwest Georgia, Northeast Alabama, and Southeast Tennessee will be examined to determine their freight volumes and regional needs. Freight companies in the area will be interviewed to find issues they are having that can further provide data to the study. This ‘alley’ is prone to congestion, has outdated merge lanes, and a lot of crashes. With 124,000 vehicles traversing this area daily they are hoping to find some solutions.
