FMCSA Declares Regional Emergency Declaration in Response to Winter Storm

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has declared a Regional Emergency Declaration in response to the damage and fuel issues caused by severe winter weather across the country. Millions of people are currently without electricity, heat, and water and are in need of immediate assistance. Affected areas within the declaration include Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Those carriers providing direct assistance to those affected by the storm are granted relief from Parts 390 through 399 of Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations with a few restrictions.
