With ship owners having to cut their sulfur emissions to 0.5% from 3.5%, the costs to change their fuel or change their fuel systems is going to be quite substantial. The regulations set by the United Nations shipping agency is going to be a large shakeup for shipping companies which will then trickle down to the trucking companies and possibly consumers.

Trucking companies are talking about fuel adjustment methodology and how higher fuel costs will turn into higher transport costs. There is also discussion involving competition over lower sulfur fuel prices for ships. Small and mid-sized trucks might find it hard to keep up with these fuel deals.
